Exam Overview

TOEFL is an internet-based test (iBT) that assesses your ability to communicate in English in an academic environment. It is widely accepted by universities and colleges worldwide for study abroad purposes.

Exam Pattern

1. Reading

3-4 Passages 30-40 Questions Duration: 54-72 minutes
  • Passages are from university-level textbooks
  • Questions test your ability to understand main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary.

2. Listening

Lectures Conversations 28-39 Questions Duration: 41-57 minutes
  • Lectures are from university-level courses.
  • Conversations are between students and professors or university staff.
  • Questions test your ability to understand main ideas, supporting details, and speaker's purpose.

3. Speaking

4 Tasks Duration: 17 minutes
  • Task 1 Independent speaking task.
  • Task 2 Integrated speaking task.
  • Task 3 Integrated speaking task.
  • Task 4 Integrated speaking task.

4. Writing

2 Tasks 30 minutes
  • Task 1 Integrated writing.
  • Task 2 Academic Discussion task.

Scoring Method

TOEFL scores range from 0 to 120. Scores are reported for each skill, and a total score is calculated.
